Alberni Hardware was opened in 1909 by Charles McNaughton. It was located on First Avenue, across from Waterhouse Hall.
In 1932, the shop was purchased by Edgar MacKenzie and was later passed down to his son, Keith. The shop operated on First Avenue for almost a century before moving to Third Avenue, where it later became Home Hardware.
