PAGO Grannies host tea for 100

PAGO Grannies raise funds for Stephen Lewis Foundation charity

The PAGO Grannies annual tea was a sold-out event with 100-plus attending this fundraiser at the Alberni United Church. As a special treat there was a fashion show of items from a local thrift store, The Attic. There were plenty of oohs and aahs as prices were revealed.

The event featured a special lunch of soup,  rolls and desserts.
The PAGO Grannies raise funds for the Grandmothers of Africa who are raising their grandchildren because of the death of their parents from AIDS.
These ladies are very hardworking and have crafts that they sell to also add to the coffers. They will be at Cherry Creek Hall at the craft fair on Nov. 16 and at the Best Western Barclay Hotel on Nov. 23. They are also selling by donation tickets on a hand-crafted quilt with the winner being drawn on Dec. 16.

The Attic will be having a sale of real fur coats at the beginning of December. They are great for making teddy bears and other crafts.

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs hockey team came by to assist in setting up the hall on Sunday evening.
The Sunshine Gentlemen once again served up the coffee and tea and did an excellent job.
The PAGO Grannies would love to have more members. They meet on the fourth Monday of every month from 2:30-3:30 p.m. If you would like to join or learn more about them please call Robin at 250-730-2565 or email Clara at claracauduro@gmail.com.
