The first annual Community Welcome event in Port Alberni drew plenty of newcomers, as well as long-time residents.
The event was organized by Port Alberni Neighbourhood Welcome and took place Saturday, May 4 at Echo Centre. More than 30 businesses and community groups also participated, and there was a play area for the children.
“We had many newcomers to the Valley, as well as many local residents, support this event,” said Megan Warrender, Neighbourhood Welcome founder.
Any newcomers who missed out can enjoy the next event, which will take place Sunday, May 26 at Harbour Quay from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Port Alberni Neighbourhood Welcome offers a special package to newcomers to the Alberni Valley, which includes community information, maps and gifts and coupons from many local business partners.
