Port Alberni Health Care Auxiliary celebrates first baby of 2024 with gifts

Auxiliary carries on annual tradition with a special presentation to new mother and baby

Port Alberni’s 2024 New Year’s baby has received some special gifts from the Alberni Health Care Auxiliary.

Auxiliary member Patti Butler met recently with new mother Fatou Jallow and her infant daughter, Ndey Zara Hydard, to present the pair with a blanket handmade by a fellow auxiliary member, a stuffie, a onesie commemorating Ndey’s birth at West Coast General Hospital, a photo album and more.

The health care auxiliary annually presents gifts to the first baby born at West Coast General Hospital.

Ndey was born Jan. 4, 2024, and was a surprise for Jallow, from Gambia, Africa, who is visiting family in Port Alberni.
