The Port Alberni Salmon Festival is hoping to encourage new volunteers for its 2025 event. The festival committee will hold an annual general meeting on Wednesday, April 9 for members and anyone interested in learning more.
The evening starts with a tour of the McLean Mill fish hatchery at 5:30 p.m. The AGM will take place at the mill's interpretive building from 6-8 p.m. The mill is located at 5633 Smith Rd.
The Alberni Valley Tyee Club, which runs the annual salmon derby concurrently with the festival, recently donated $12,000 to the Alberni Valley Enhancement Society for the hatchery.
