Students from École des Grands-cèdres in Port Alberni had a chance to celebrate last month as city hall raised the Franco-Columbian flag.
The flag raising took place as part of the Mois de la Francophonie (Francophonie Month) in March. This month is meant to celebrate the importance of the French language in Canada.
"Seeing the Franco-Columbian flag fly at City Hall was a proud and exciting moment for the students, reinforcing their sense of belonging and celebrating the cultural and linguistic diversity of British Columbia," said Émilie Carlen, public relations advisor for School District 93 (Conseil scolaire francophone de la Colombie-Britannique).
École des Grands-cèdres, part of School District 93, is a public Francophone school in Port Alberni.
