Vessel blessings for Coast Guard Auxiliary’s ‘Alberni Responder’

Port Alberni community members showed up at Clutesi Haven Marina on Saturday to help launch the Alberni Responder, the Coast Guard Auxiliary's new rigid-hull enclosed cabin rescue vessel.

Nanaimo-Alberni MLA Scott Fraser disembarks from the Alberni Responder after it was christened on Saturday at Clutesi Haven Marina. The rigid-hull vessel belongs to the Port Alberni chapter of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary. The freshly-trained crew has already used the new vessel in a rescue.
