CANADIAN COUNCIL OF THE BLIND meets at 10 a.m. in the downstairs meeting room at Abbeyfield. A group for low vision and blind individuals to connect and engage in various topics. FMI: Jenn Collette at 250-240-1738.

PRENATAL CLASS with local birth doula and lactation counsellor Marnie Wynans. 5:30-7:30 p.m. This class focuses on the labour and birth partner. To register, visit www.harbourcitydoulas.com.

MT. KLITSA GARDEN CLUB'S first meeting of the 2024-25 year will be held at 7 p.m. at the Echo Centre (Cedar Room). The Parlour Show subject is Summer's End. ALBERNI CO-OP COMMUNITY DAY at the Glenwood Centre. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Family activities, free BBQ lunch, draws and prizes, information booth, career booth and much more.

TRANSITIONS EXHIBIT opens at the Grove Art Gallery (Harbour Quay). 1-3 p.m. Experience a unique collection of artwork that captures the dynamic nature of change in Port Alberni and meet the artists.
 

TUE. OCT. 8

RETIRED LOGGERS COFFEE SOCIAL at the Steelworkers Union Hall (4904 Montrose St.), 1–3 p.m. Any Alberni Valley retired loggers, staff, contractors and all others associated with forest industry are welcome. Photo memories welcome. 

AV COMMUNITY BANDS FALL STARTUP at ADSS. Alberni Valley Community Concert Band practices from 6:30-7:40 p.m. and Harbour City Big Band practices from 7:45-8:55 p.m. New members welcome. FMI: jkynoch@sd70.bc.ca (concert band) or gsfalls@shaw.ca (big band).
