The Alberni Classical Concerts Society is bringing back another season of live classical music in Port Alberni.

Following a few years of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, the society was “thrilled” with an exciting 2022-23 season of live music and is now looking forward to the 2023-24 season.

The season will commence on Tuesday, Sept. 26 with the Eliot Quartett, hailing all the way from Stuttgart, Germany, although their members hail from Canada, Germany and Russia.

Following this quartet, the society will welcome the most unusual Quartetto Gelato, whose music and vocals range from classical masterworks and tangos to folk songs. In January, the renowned Canadian pianist Francine Kay will entertain Port Alberni, before the dazzling Victoria Piano Quartet brings the season to a close in March.

The full schedule is as follows:

Eliot Quartett — Tuesday, Sept. 26 — 7 p.m.

Quartetto Gelato — Saturday, Nov. 18 — 7 p.m.

Francine Kay — Friday, Jan. 19 — 7 p.m.

The Victoria Piano Quartet — Sunday, March 24 — 2:30 p.m.

For more information about any of these performers or subscriptions, please visit the society’s website at alberniclassicalconcerts.ca where contact information for the directors is available.

All performances will be held at Arrowsmith Baptist Church (4283 Glenside Road).

The subscription fee for all four concerts is $125. Subscription tickets are transferrable in case people can’t attend any individual concert.
