A date has been set for the eighth annual Solstice Arts Festival in Port Alberni.
This free family event will take place on Saturday, June 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Harbour Quay. The bottom of Argyle Street will be closed to all vehicle traffic on this day to create a safe and vibrant space to celebrate the arts, music and community.
The Community Arts Council is seeking interested artists to showcase and sell their work at this year’s event, along with lively, toe-tapping musicians. If you are interested, please register at the Grove Art Gallery, call 250-724-3412 or register online at www.alberniarts.com.
DUAL ART EXHIBIT
Immerse yourself in the dynamic world of local artists Cairis Wall and Lorne McNab in their current joint art exhibit, “Neon & Nature.” Delve into the fusion of mixed media, abstract art and pen and ink with watercolors, showcasing the seamless collaboration between these two talented artists.
This exhibition runs until March 22 at the Grove Art Gallery. The Grove is located at Harbour Quay and is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
GIANT BOOK SALE
The Community Arts Council will host its annual Giant Book Sale at the Alberni Athletic Hall on May 10 and 11.
We are currently accepting gently-used book donations (puzzles). However, we cannot accept old and heavily used books, textbooks, magazines, National Geographic, encyclopedias, or Reader’s Digest. Please drop off all donations at our front door in the big wooden white box. We appreciate your donations, but cannot accept old and heavily used books, textbooks, magazines, encyclopedias or Reader’s Digest.
CALL FOR ARTISTS
Embark on a creative journey with our upcoming spring art exhibition titled, “When Colour Speaks to You – IGNITE YOUR IMAGINATION.”
Artists of all mediums are invited to submit up to three pieces for this unique exhibit. Detailed submission information is available at the gallery or online at www.alberniarts.com. The exhibit will run from March 26 to April 26.
SPRING CONCERT
Embark on an afternoon of melodic bliss with a special spring concert presented by the Community Arts Council, featuring the Greater Victoria Police Chorus. The show takes place Sunday, April 14 at the ADSS Theatre from 2-4 p.m.
Tickets are $30 and available at the Grove Art Gallery.
EXPLORE PAVERPOL
Dive into a new artistic medium with this Two-Day Beginner Paverpol Workshop led by Cheryl Frehlich. This workshop introduces you to the environmentally-safe textile hardener Paverpol.

ACRYLIC PAINTING
