SPECIAL TO THE NEWS

This weekend at the Rollin Art Centre is all about the people who support arts in the Alberni Valley. The Community Arts Council is holding two days of Members Appreciation Days from Thursday, Dec. 6 to Friday, Dec. 7, featuring special guest sculptor Cecil Dawson on Dec. 7.

If you are a current member, join us in the gallery on Thursday, Dec. 6. Special guest Cecil Dawson is from the Dzawada’enuxw First Nation and grew up in Kingcome and Campbell River before coming to Port Alberni. Dawson’s cultural involvement is important to him; he is a historian and an initiated Hamatsa dancer.

Dawson’s artwork is well known around the Alberni Valley and we’re happy to host him as one of our special guests this month. He will be sketching and storytelling this Friday, Dec. 7 from 5–8 p.m., and again on Friday, Dec. 14 from 1–3 p.m.
