Thanks to Jillian Mayne of ArtRave, we have even more upcoming social studio nights planned from late February till the end of March. If you haven’t attended a social studio night before, every second Thursday night from 6:30–8:30 p.m. Mayne hosts a two-hour art-making class at the Grove Gallery.
On Feb. 27, join us for “Explore Acrylic Painting & Mixed Media”. This class will focus on the world of mixed media art, with lessons in technique and collage. Perfect for beginners looking to try something new!
Continuing in the world of acrylic, on March 13 “Intro to Acrylic Painting” participants will learn basic techniques such as how to use mediums and proper brush use to create a west coast landscape.
Back by popular demand, our last announced session for March 27 will be “Lino Session No. 2”! Learn how to carve your own design and make a stamp, which you can take home at the end of your session. These stamps are great for prints, cards, t- shirts, etc.
Each studio session has a drop-in fee of $10, unless noted otherwise, to cover the cost of supplies. Be sure to wear clothing that you can get messy in! Social Studio nights are meant to be a casual, accessible way to interact with other art enthusiasts in our community, while also learning something new.
Be sure to sign up now as spots are limited and are filled quickly. To register, head to our website alberniarts.com/social-studio or call us at (250) 724-3412.
Second meet and greet for 'Iconic Alberni'
Here's your second opportunity to meet the artists featured in “Iconic Alberni” at the Grove Gallery.
Due to inclement weather, many of the artists participating in the first meet and greet for "Iconic Alberni" were unable to attend the opening reception on Feb. 6. As a result, we are hosting a meet and greet on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 1–3 p.m.
If you missed the first event or have not yet seen the show, we encourage you to visit the Grove Gallery. Take the opportunity to view the exhibit, cast your vote for the best puzzle design, and engage with the artists and fellow art enthusiasts. Light refreshments will be provided.
