SPECIAL TO THE NEWS

The annual Solstice Arts Festival is approaching in Port Alberni, and there are still a few spots left for interested vendors.

The Community Arts Council is looking for interested artisans and musicians to set up at our seventh annual Solstice Arts Festival on Saturday, June 17. This year, the Harbour Quay will be our new location. The area will be closed to all vehicle traffic from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. to make the quay a safe place to wander and an amazing spot to celebrate the arts, music and community.

If you are interested, please register at the Grove Art Gallery, call 250-724-3412 or register online at www.alberniarts.com. The artisan display registration fee is $30.

The Grove Art Gallery is located at Harbour Quay and is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

IMPRESSIVE ART ON DISPLAY

“Grads @ the Grove” is a celebration of Grade 12 visual artists from Alberni District Secondary School. This exhibit will be on display at the Grove Art Gallery until June 23.

The Port Alberni Toy Run will be sponsoring cash prize awards for first, second and third place, so don’t forget to stop by to check out these budding young artists and choose your favorite pieces.

FRIDAY EVENING DEMOS

Artists, are you looking for somewhere fun to be creative? The Grove Art Gallery is looking for artists to demonstrate and display their artwork outside the gallery every Friday evening from 5-8 p.m., beginning June 9.

Artists can bring along their easels, canvasses and paints, jewelry supplies, sketchpads or any other medium, giving them an opportunity to showcase their work. There is no cost to the artists, but we do require a commitment to a chosen date.

Please contact the Grove Art Gallery for details.

BACK IN TIME

“Back in Time” will be the title of our next open art exhibit, showcasing local artists at the Grove Art Gallery.

Artists are invited to take inspiration from historical photographs, taken at the turn of the century in the Alberni Valley. Registered artists will select a “blind” envelope, containing random images provided by the Alberni Valley Museum archives.

This exhibit will run in the gallery starting Aug. 29, so register today at the Grove Art Gallery to get started and give yourself plenty of time to complete your piece.

CALL TO ARTISTS

The Grove Art Gallery is now accepting applications from all visual artists and artist groups who want to exhibit their work in our fine arts gallery during the 2024 calendar year.

Don’t miss this opportunity to have your own art exhibit or group exhibit. Application forms are available at the Grove Art Gallery or on our website. The deadline is July 29. Call 250-724-3412 for more info.
