One of the world’s leading baroque musicians will be performing in Port Alberni later this month.
The Pacific Baroque Festival will be hosting an Islands Tour this year, with a stop at the Arrowsmith Baptist Church in Port Alberni on Tuesday, Feb. 25, where audiences will have a chance to experience the voice of acclaimed German soprano Dorothee Mields.
Mields will be accompanied by Marc Destrubé (baroque violin), Natalie Mackie (viola da gamba) and Marco Vitale (harpsichord) in a musical journey through centuries, following the theme of prayers for peace and hope.
The concert will bring together works from several centuries, from the polyphonic soundscapes of the Renaissance to the sonorous compositions of the Baroque era and intimate sacred songs.
“We are so excited to be performing this concert with Dorothee,” said Destrubé. “She is a wonderful colleague and musician, and a true expert in this repertoire. We have created a program which reflects our shared values and relationships. We hope this mutual admiration also comes through in our playing.”
The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. Tickets are available online at https://www.showpass.com/peace-port-alberni-concert or at the door.
