Bluegrass musician Jenny Lester is inviting Port Alberni residents to sing, play and listen during a festive Bluegrass Christmas Songs Workshop at Char's Landing on Sunday, Dec. 15.
Lester is a dynamic Canadian bluegrass performer and recording artist who has established herself as a talented singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Her original songs are carefully crafted in the bluegrass convention, while at the same time displaying a contemporary freshness and vitality that breathes new life into the fabled "high lonesome" sound.
Singers, musicians and holiday music enthusiasts are welcome to come celebrate the season with Lester at Char's Landing. Lester will lead visitors in learning both traditional bluegrass Christmas songs and beloved holiday classics, all in the authentic bluegrass harmony and instrumentation. People can sing along, bring an instrument or simply listen as Lester fills the room with holiday cheer, bluegrass-style.
The show runs from 1-3 p.m. There is a suggested admission of $20 for adults or $15 for seniors/youth at the door. Participants are encouraged to pre-register by calling or texting Char at 250-730-1636, but drop-ins will also be welcome.
