The Community Arts Council of Alberni Valley is thrilled to present the "Iconic Alberni" exhibit, a unique celebration of our community’s rich heritage and natural beauty. This will be the second annual exhibit of its kind.
Held at the Grove Gallery in support of Arrowsmith Rotary, this exhibit invites local artists and arts council members to submit artwork featuring iconic landmarks and imagery, such as the Martin Mars waterbombers, Mount Arrowsmith, McLean Mill National Historic Site and more, using either personal or public domain images.
This initiative, aimed at capturing the essence of Port Alberni and the Alberni Valley, not only showcases local talent but also supports the Arrowsmith Rotary through a creative fundraising effort. The most representative artwork will be selected through a community vote and transformed into a jigsaw puzzle.
The chosen artwork will earn the artist a $500 award, and the puzzle will be sold to raise funds for Arrowsmith Rotary projects. Shelley Penner's colourful depiction of an antique truck at McLean Mill won the community vote and was made into a puzzle.
The deadline to submit for the 2025 Iconic Alberni show is Friday Jan. 24, 2025. For more information, visit Alberniarts.com or call the gallery at 250-724-3412.
