The Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District and BC Transit will expand handyDART service in the Alberni Valley in 2025 to include Saturdays.

HandyDART is an accessible, door-to-door transit service that helps people who cannot access regular fixed-route transit due to temporary or permanent disabilities. Customers must register for the handyDART service.

The increase in service in the Alberni Valley will also include an additional vehicle in service for extra trips during weekday peak times.

This service expansion, according to BC Transit, has been made possible by an increase in local government and provincial funding. The operating grant in the 2024-25 provincial budget will allow BC Transit and its local government partners to continue to provide safe and reliable service.

The new schedule goes into effect Jan. 5, 2025. To see more about the schedule, go online to https://www.bctransit.com/port-alberni/riderinfo/handydart/ or download the Umo or Transit apps for real-time bus tracking.
