A Port Alberni brewery has been named British Columbia's best Brewery of the Year for the second year in a row.
Port Alberni's Twin City Brewing picked up six awards at the 2024 B.C. Beer Awards on Oct. 19, 2024, including the coveted title of "Brewery of the Year" for the second year in a row. They also won the title in 2023.
Their other awards included two golds for Falltoberfest (in the Pale Malty German Lager category) and Out On A Limb (in the Specialty Fruit Beer category), two silvers (Swedish Gymnast and Big Yikes!) and a bronze (Spruce Tip Swedish Gymnast).
Twin City wasn't the only Port Alberni winner at the B.C. Beer Awards. Their neighbour, Dog Mountain Brewing, also picked up a silver in the North American Porter & Stout category for their Creme Brulee Imperial Stout.
Port Alberni wins big at Canada Beer Cup
Port Alberni craft breweries also made a name for themselves at the Canada Beer Cup.
The Canada Beer Cup, which is presented each year by the Canadian Craft Brewers Association, took place on Oct. 18 this year. British Columbia took home a total of 65 trophies.
Port Alberni's Dog Mountain Brewing took home gold in the Dark Belgian Strong Ale category for their Friar Belgian Quad. Twin City Brewing won a bronze award for their Spruce Tip Swedish Gymnast, and also collaborated with Ucluelet Brewing Company on the bronze award-winning Sugar Shak Maple Lager.
