It's never over until it's over, and what a finish it was for the Alberni Valley Tyee Club's 2024 ladder season.
After a slow start to the fishing season and few changes to the leader boards, Andy Olson came in from Swale Rock the day before the close of the Tyee Club Ladder season and dropped a Tyee weighing 34.8 pounds on the scale. He snatched the lead for Top Fisherman overall from junior member Ryker Klyne, who had a 27.8-pounder early on and held the lead all season.
Olson's fish bumped Harry Sperber's 23.6-lbs. off the adult board and into the hidden draws.
The Tyee Club ladder season officially came to a close under hot skies with a windup barbecue at Clutesi Haven Marina on Sunday, Sept. 8. Club executive members handed out cash prizes and some great hidden draw prizes for those that qualified in each category.
This year it was a real family affair with the Klyne boys taking three of the top spots on the adult and junior leader boards. Congratulations to all for another fun season of fishing.
