Cascadia Liquor cleans Island beaches and supports eco-friendly practices—proving that sustainability and community care go hand-in-hand.

Cascadia Liquor is proving that good business means more than stocking quality bottles. With 12 locations across Vancouver Island, the locally owned and operated retailer is championing environmental sustainability and community engagement through a series of meaningful initiatives.

All Cascadia Liquor stores are certified by BC Green Business, a designation that underscores the company’s dedication to reducing its environmental impact. From energy-efficient lighting to comprehensive recycling and waste-reduction programs, each location aims to leave a smaller footprint on their communities. However, Cascadia’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond its own operations — actively partnering with vendors who share their values by prioritizing eco-friendly packaging, sustainable farming practices and low-impact production methods.

This commitment has not gone unnoticed, bolstered by transparency on its sustainability page and support from customers who are increasingly making values-driven purchases.

Equally strong is Cascadia’s community focus. The company supports 16 charities that address vital issues such as mental health, housing, food security and environmental protection. In addition, the team regularly sponsors local cultural events and community fairs across the Island.

Island-owned and operated since 2007, Cascadia has served Vancouver Island communities — with their proud Islander identity shaping their purpose from the start. “We are committed to being environmental stewards and have deep-rooted beliefs that sustainable initiatives should be more than a practice, but a priority. The decisions we make in the areas of sustainability and community are made with our neighbours and team members in mind.”

Revenue from paper bag sales, ice purchases and ticketed masterclass events is funneled directly into its charitable efforts. That means customers contribute to local causes with nearly every transaction, whether they’re picking up party supplies or attending an educational tasting event.

“We see ourselves as more than a liquor store,” says Glenda Bruyere, Senior Manager, Retail Operations for Cascadia Liquor. “We’re proud Islanders and have been supporting our communities since 2007.”

Cascadia’s values are evident in the company’s wide-reaching charitable partnerships, from food banks and housing initiatives to conservation groups and mental health programs. Cascadia’s philosophy is simple: small actions, when repeated and supported by a community, can lead to big change.

As Vancouver Island continues to grow, Cascadia Liquor is setting a standard for how local businesses can make a positive impact – one bottle, one bag, and one good deed at a time.
