Advance voting in the Mid Island Pacific Rim for the upcoming provincial election saw a similar turnout in the first two days compared to previous elections.

Ann Chandler, district electoral officer for the Mid Island Pacific Rim, said turnout was no heavier than normal across all polling stations in the riding.

“It was a pretty normal turnout, so steady with quiet times,” Chandler said.

In the 2013 provincial election, the riding, formerly Alberni-Pacific Rim, saw 4,141 people come out to vote during the four days of advance polling.

Port Alberni’s polling station is being held at the Alberni Athletic Hall. Four remaining advance polling days will be available; Wednesday, May 3 through Saturday, May 6 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

As of April 11, in the Mid Island Pacific Rim, there are 39,341 registered voters.
