Environmental tests taking place at former Port Alberni 7-Eleven

No new developments have been proposed at this time

The former 7-Eleven site on Third Avenue and Mar Street has been closed off from the public as some environmental testing goes on.

The business closed permanently in July of last year, reportedly due to frequent thefts.

The site was a gas station for a number of years and, according to director of development services Scott Smith, an environmental consultant company has been performing some tests to assess the land where the tanks once were.

He added that the testing might be taking place on-and-off.

No development applications or building permits have been submitted to the city at this time for this location.
