Hugh Jackman stars as Wolverine for the seventh time

In theatres this week...

  • X-Men: Days of Future Past stars Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Ian McKellen as Magneto, and Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier in the classic comic book series latest Hollywood instalment.
  • Its the seventh film in the X-Men franchise, which started back in 2000. The last X-Men film was First Class, which came out in 2011.

That was also Jennifer Lawrence's first appearance in the franchise, as she took over Mystique from Rebecca Romijn.

    • Blended stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore as a couple single parents on a family trip to Africa.
    • The movie begins with Sandler and Barrymore (who have appeared on-screen together in The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates) on a terrible blind date, their first date.

And then the two run into each other while on separate vacations and – surprise, surprise – their feelings toward each other change once they begin to spend more time together.

      • The Immigrant stars Marion Cotillard as a young women forced into prostitution, and Joaquin Phoenix and Jeremy Renner as the men both trying to keep her in that line of work and save her from it, respectively.
      • The film is set in the 1920s, in New York City.

Cotillard plays Ewa, a Polish woman who arrives in America via Ellis Island, off Manhattan. She is scooped up by a quiet pimp (Phoenix) after she is separate from her sister, Magda, who has tuberculosis.
