Fire destroys River Road house in Alberni

Emergency crews arrived to find a house fully engulfed in flames early Sunday morning. Officials won't confirm if there was a fatality or not.

A fire gutted a house in the 6000 block of River Road early Sunday morning.

Fire destroyed a house on River Road early Sunday morning.

Emergency crews were called to a house in the 6000 block of River Road at 4 a.m., acting Port Alberni Fire department chief Ed Francoeur said.

Once there, firemen found a small house fully engulfed in flames.

Police and fire were still on the scene at 10 a.m.

Francoeur could not confirm if there was a fatality.

RCMP and fire inspectors’ have ensued investigations.
