The Port Alberni Fire Department responded to what turned out to be a grease fire at the Dairy Queen on Third Avenue at about 5 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Smoke was coming out of a vent on the roof but flames were controlled quickly.
Dairy Queen employees and customers evacuated the building while fire crews dealt with the fire.
Temperatures in Port Alberni reached 28 degrees Celsius today (July 26).
