In the coming days, Island Timberlands will begin upgrading their Shoemaker Bay (opposite side of the Alberni Inlet) log sort by paving the dirt deck as well as performing other improvements. The work is being completed by local contractors and require some blasting over the next few weeks. This is not an expansion of their log sort but an improvement to already existing infrastructure which will enhance environmental protections.
