The deadline is approaching for anyone interested in providing their feedback on proposed changes to the historic Log Train Trail.

The Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District (ACRD) has been working on a Log Train Trail Management Plan Project over the past two years, which will guide operational and capital investment into the Log Train Trail over the next 10-20 years.

The trail, which stretches 25 kilometres along the foot of the Beaufort Range, was originally part of railroad logging operations until logging trucks became the preferred method of transport and the railway was abandoned.

Since then, it has been developed into a multipurpose trail and regional park, mostly through the work of community volunteers, and the ACRD holds a non-exclusive lease from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure for non-motorized recreational use for 17 kilometres of the trail.

A draft management plan is available on the ACRD’s website at www.letsconnectacrd.ca and a survey will be open until Friday, Sept. 15 for people to provide their feedback.
