The Gabriola Island RCMP is investigating after a the body of a deceased man was found in the ocean.

Gabriola Island RCMP members responded at about 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, to a report of a body in the water in the area of Dragon’s Lane on the east side of the island.

According to a Gabriola RCMP press release, the individual has been positively identified as a non-Gabriola resident and the circumstances around the death are being investigated, but criminality is not suspected.

The B.C. Coroners Service is also investigating.
