A 23-year-old man has been flown to hospital in Victoria after an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) accident at Elsie Lake on Friday.

A 23-year-old man has been injured in an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) accident outside of Port Alberni.

Emergency crews responded to call about a man injured on the Ash Main Road where it meets Elsie Lake just after 8 p.m. on Friday, May 18, RCMP Cpl. Brady Mathison said.

There, emergency personnel tended to a man who suffered injuries after rolling his ATV. He's since been taken to hospital in Victoria by air ambulance with undisclosed injuries.

Police haven't yet determined the cause of the accident and continue to investigate the incident, Mathison said.

In September 2011, a 22-year-old Parksville man died after plunging his ATV over a 200-foot embankment between Great Central and Lowry Lakes.
