A resident of Parksville and one of Coombs have been arrested by police after a several-week investigation.

Oceanside RCMP executed arrest warrants on a 39-year-old from Coombs and a 45-year-old from Parksville on Nov. 28 for allegedly trafficking controlled substances in the Parksville Qualicum Beach area.

The arrests were “as a result of a Project Based Police Investigation that spanned several weeks,” according to an Oceanside RCMP news release.

The Parksville resident was held in custody and is expected to appear before courts again in mid-December, while the Coombs resident was released by police and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 11.

“The Oceanside RCMP would like to thank the general public whose tips and information allowed for this investigation to be a success,” Sgt. Stephen Rose is quoted as saying in the news release. “Without tips and information from the public our officers would be at a distinct disadvantage when targeting individuals who are selling drugs in our community.”
