Peeping tom on the loose in Alberni

The Port Alberni RCMP is asking the public to be vigilant after several incidents of ‘peeping toms’ have been reported.

The Port Alberni RCMP is asking the public to be vigilant after several incidents of ‘peeping toms’ have been reported on residential properties.

Three home owners told police they have seen a person, believed to be male, on their property late at night staring into windows.

The first incident reported was on Dec. 7 in the 3000 block of Alberni Highway. The most recent occurred on Jan. 11 in the Cherry Creek area.The RCMP is investigating and says residents should follow the following safety tips:

• call the police if you see a stranger in your yard

• make sure your yard is well lit—sensor lights can help

• keep windows and doors locked and ladders secured.
