Police K-9 unit to demo in Alberni

The Vancouver Island Police Dog Handling unit is giving a demonstration at the Albern detachment Thursday, Sept. 27 at 4:30 p.m.

Port Alberni’s RCMP detachment is bringing in the Vancouver Island Police Dog Handlers and their K-9 partners for an afternoon of demonstrations, Thursday, Sept. 27.

Dog teams from Port Alberni, Nanaimo, Victoria and Campbell River will participate in the event, which is a fundraiser for the Tour de Rock cycling team arriving in the Alberni Valley on Friday.

Members of the Port Alberni detachment will put on a chili cookout during the event.

Demos will take place from 4:30–6:30 p.m. in the field across from the RCMP station on Morton Street, between Eighth and Ninth avenues.
