Police officer struck twice by fleeing suspect's car

Alberni RCMP are hunting for a man who ran down an RCMP officer with his car while fleeing arrest.

Police are on the lookout for a man who ran down an RCMP officer with his car while fleeing arrest.

The incident happened on Sept. 24 when RCMP members attempted to arrest the man in connection with an investigation, RCMP Const. Shelly Schedewitz said in a press release.

The man evaded officers, jumped in a two-door blue Honda Civic and began to flee. He struck one of the officers with his car knocking him to the ground, then ran into him again as he stood sending him flying over the hood, Schedewitz said. The man was last seen leaving the Walmart parking lot.

The officer was treated for minor injuries.

Anyone who knows anything about this incident or who can help identify the man is asked to contact the local detachment at 723-2424, or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS.
