Port Alberni RCMP are looking for the owner of a stolen tool chest.

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, Aug. 7, Port Alberni RCMP responded to a complaint of suspicious activity in the alley behind the 3500 block of Fourth Ave.

During the course of their investigation, members located a grey pickup truck occupied with two individuals, both of whom are well known to police. Within the box of the truck was a disassembled mechanic’s tool chest.

The occupants were deceptive in their interactions with police and were unable to provide proof of ownership or how they legally came into possession of the tool chest, so police seized the tool chest.

To date, police have been unable to identify its rightful owner. The mechanic’s tool chest is an older three-piece model and red-and-black in colour. Anyone missing a chest of this description is asked to contact the Port Alberni RCMP at 250-723-2424. The owner will be required to identify their property.

Port Alberni RCMP Cpl. Amelia Hayden wants to remind the public to report any suspicious activity to the police as soon as possible.

“Much like in this case, we were able to respond quickly, locating these two individuals, and this property was recovered,” she said.
