Trevor Oakley, missing since Jan. 3, was found dead on April 2 in the Sarita Bay area—approximately 70 km south of Port Alberni.

After Port Alberni RCMP received information that human remains were found, an investigation confirmed the remains were 34-year-old Oakley’s.

Oakley`s death is suspected to be a homicide and the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) are investigating. An autopsy is scheduled for later today.

Investigators do not believe this was random and do not believe the public is at risk. There is no further information to release at this time.
