Please be advised that Public Notice is given to the electors of the City of Port Alberni that nominations for the office of: Councillor, One [1] to be elected will be received by the Chief Election Officer [CEO] for the City of Port Alberni as follows:

IMPORTANT NOTE: Originals of faxed or emailed nomination documents must be received by the Chief Election Officer by 4:00 pm, Friday, November 15, 2024.
Beginning Friday October 25, 2024 until Friday November 8, 2024, nomination packages, including required forms are available for pick up at Port Alberni City Hall, 4850 Argyle Street, Port Alberni, BC between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays. Candidates are encouraged to call 250.720.2822 to make an appointment with the Chief Election Officer when submitting your nomination papers.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR OFFICE
A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and to hold office as a member of the City of Port Alberni Council if they meet the following criteria:
- Canadian citizen;
- 18 years of age or older on general voting day December 14, 2024;
- Resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed; and
- Not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from being nominated for, being elected to or holding the office, or be otherwise disqualified by law.
CAMPAIGN PERIOD EXPENSE LIMITS
In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2024 By-election, the following expense limits for candidates during the campaign period apply:

THIRD PARTY ADVERTISING LIMITS
In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2024 By-election, the following third party advertising limits apply:
