Dec 14, 1946 - Dec 24, 2017
Alan was born in Glasgow, Scotland on December 14, 1946 to David Milligan and Margaret Purdon Ferrie. Alan passed away at his home in Port Alberni B.C. of a heart attack.

Born in Scotland, Alan and his family moved to Toronto in 1953. Alan graduated from Vincent Massey Collegiate and attended York University for two years. In 1987 Alan moved to Ucluelet, B. C. where he worked in the fish processing industry and here he was also a member of the 4th Canadian Rangers Patrol Group.

Growing up the youngest of four boys (George, James, David), Alan developed a love of sport - especially of the Toronto Maple Leafs. In high school he played Varsity basketball and football. He also played hockey and baseball in community leagues around Toronto .

He loved to read (especially mythology novels), play chess, and solve crossword puzzles. Alan had an easygoing, affable manner and possessed an infectious sense of humour that family and friends enjoyed.

Alan had many friends in Toronto and on Vancouver Island. In his latter years he was a volunteer in Port Alberni at the New Horizons Clubhouse where he included both clients and staff as close friends.

Alan was loved and cherished by his family. He will be sadly missed by his surviving brothers James (in Stouffville, Ontario), and David (in Ladysmith, B.C.), his sister-in-law Elvi (in Toronto), and his many nieces and nephews.

Alan will be remembered by all with love and affection.

A private celebration of Alan's life will be held in Toronto in the spring.
