In Loving Memory ~
It's with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alexander (Alec) Francis Croisdale on August 9, 2024. Alec passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
We are saddened by the loss of Alec who was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and wonderful friend to many.
Alec was pre-deceased by his loving wife Mildred (Bug) of 64 years. In-laws Clifford & Ida Chase, sister-in-law Flo & Stan Salmon, brother-in-law Dale Chase, parents Jeannie Braun and Douglas Croisdale.
Survived by his loving daughters Lee, Dana (Dave), grandchildren Alexis (Rod), Michael (Jen), great grandchildren Hudson & Kennedy, chosen grandson Jonah, brother Walt (Bev), sister-in-law Bette Chase as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and his beloved companions Sunny, Maggie, Katie & Percy.
Alec was born in Vancouver on June 8, 1934, and resided in Fernie until he moved to Port Alberni to find work, that's where he met and married the love of his life until she passed in 2021.
He worked for over 35 years delivering bread for McGavins bakery. Alec loved his job and the social aspect of it. He was known in town as the bread man.
How fortunate we were to have this man in our life and to be our role model. Dad had many interests and hobbies but his most important one was family. He was very involved in Mike's sports from taking him to golf and hockey tournaments up and down the island as well as the bantering back and forth while playing crib. It was so special to see the bond they had for each other.
We would like to thank all dad's friends that he had coffee with because that was something that he looked forward to and enjoyed. To his amazing neighbours who always watched out for him and Terry for taking his dog Sunny for her daily walks.
On behalf of the family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Dr.'s M&A Marsay, Cindy, Dana, Marielle & staff for the exceptional care and the compassion they provided to dad. A special thank you to Dr. Woodley and the staff at WCGH for the amazing care they provided to dad.
A very special thank you to Alexis for all the care that she provided for her grampa, from being a fierce advocate, to taking him to medical appointments, cooking meals and helping with his daily tasks.
As per dad's request there will be no service.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the SPCA in memory of Alec.
