April 6, 1931 – October 21, 2015

It is with great sadness and relief in our hearts that we have to say our final “Good Night” of Mr. Alexander Cayer. Alex, at the age of 84, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2015 at the Ty Watson House in Port Alberni, B.C.

Alex was predeceased by his beloved wife, Beatrice, a.k.a. Bea; his parents; and numerous brothers and sisters. He is survived by his children Linda and Alex (Annette); one sister, Florence; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family.

Alex was born in Ontario and was one of 13 children. He did many different jobs early on in life, but he was a carpenter for most of his adulthood; which is how some of you knew him. Two of you knew him as Dad. Some of you knew him as Alex, your friend, boss, or work associate. Some as Uncle Alex and some of you knew him as Grandpa and Great Grandpa. Some of you didn’t know him at all.

I knew him as Pops…a man full of hardships, life experiences, and stories of years gone by. What he lacked in education, he learned along many different paths in his life. As a result, he was stubborn, battered, hurt, and regretful, but he would not let that get him down. He learned from those paths strength, talent, wisdom, determination, pride, and he gained a sense of humor. But the most important quality he possessed was knowing that he was not a perfect human being and that he had made mistakes along his journey in life. Yes, I saw the bad and the good; we had our moments of the last 25 years. This brings me to the very heart and soul of who he really was…grateful, generous, kind, witty, playful, and loving!

Pops, you are forever missed but you will live on in our hearts forever and ever, until we meet again.

We Love You
