In Loving Memory ~

It is with shattered hearts and overwhelming sadness that we share the sudden passing of our kind, gentle and beloved Husband, Father, Papa, Brother, Uncle and Friend, Alfy Huff.

Alfred James Huff was born in Lloydminster, Alberta on October 7th, 1947, but grew up in and spent his entire life in Port Alberni. After a courageous battle with cancer Alfy lost his fight during the early hours of June 15, 2024, at the age of 76.

He lived his life for his Wife of 56 years Barb, his high school sweetheart, his best friend, his everything! He will be forever missed by his four devoted Children, Crystal (Len), Chad (Kevin), Tiffany (Kevin), and Destiny.

His cherished grandchildren, Chanelle, Cherish (Levi), Colby, Grayson and Nash. Loving Sister Rose Diemert (Don), brothers and sisters-in-law Bob and Gennie Stephens, Dorothy Sherwood, Yvonne McCarthy, Larry & Roxanne Ofstie, numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends. His best friend since childhood, Marty Deforest and treasured dog Tessa.

Alfy was predeceased by his infant son Todd, his parents Albert and Eileen Huff, mother-in-law Pearl Ofstie and grandson Colton Erickson and Brother-in-law Ron Sherwood.

Alfy's work life began straight out of school at Jax Store, just down the block from his home. It wasn't long before he went to work at the Alberni Plywood's for many years where his father worked. But Alfy was always destined to be a truck driver, he drove gravel truck for R.A. Stephens Trucking and Orville Hodge Trucking. But it was J.W. Berry Trucking where he would spend his last 40 years working until his retirement. He was a Mechanic and took great pride driving "Alfy's Girl" a Tractor Trailer Kenworth he absolutely adored.

Alfy had two passions, music and old cars. He had an amazing voice and loved to play his guitar and sing old country songs at parties, around the campfire, or any special occasion. Everyone always loved these times and definitely are some of our most treasured memories. Even as a young man Alfy was obsessed with vehicles, buying and upgrading his hot rods regularly and that love only grew over the years. He enjoyed going to all the car shows and collecting many classics of his own.

Alfy loved his retirement, every weekend he and Barb would take off for a drive down island stopping at all garage sales and thrift stores along the way. He looked forward to his morning coffee at the Donut Shop with all the guys and never missed attending any of his precious grandchildren's events. Whether it was hockey game, baseball game or a horseshow, he was always front and centre cheering them on. He loved driving his boys to early morning hockey practice and then dropping them off at school. We were so blessed to have him be an important part of our everyday lives!

Alfy was loved by everyone who met him, he had so many friends. A sweet, quiet man who never hesitated to help anyone. He had a gentle soul with a heart of gold, an extraordinary man and the greatest dad ever. There are no words to express the enormous loss we feel..

May the winds of love blow softly

And whisper in your ear

"We love and miss you Dad

And wish that you were here"

Of all the special gifts of life,

However great or small,

To have you as our Dad,

Was the greatest gift of all!

Alfy has requested no funeral or celebration of life, he only wanted to be remembered for his love for his family and his love for his friends!
