Alice Malachowski passed away in Port Alberni at the age of 93 years.

Alice was predeceased by her daughter Lorna Rankin, husband Stanley, two brothers and three sisters. Alice is survived by her daughter Ursula (Dennis); sister Olga and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was born in Alberta and moved to Vancouver in 1944; then moved to Vancouver Island in 1952. She enjoyed volunteering and joined the Franklin River Ladies Fire Brigade in 1953 as one of the two fire truck drivers. Alice also joined Beta Sigma Phi in 1968 and was awarded a life time membership as well as a Certificate of Merit. She also received a Certificate of Merit from Echo Sunshine Club and Friendship Medal from the Royal Canadian Legion. Alice held herself with dignity and her kind, gentle nature was apparent to all who met her.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Alberni Valley Memorial Park with Reverend Minnie Hornidge officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Alice's name may be made to the Association of Children with Developmental Disabilities located at Kiwanis Hilton Children's Centre, 4325 Neill Street, Port Alberni, BC V9Y 1E5; www.hiltoncentre.org.
