September 11, 2020
On Friday, September 11, 2020, Andrew Nelson Tinkess passed away suddenly, but peacefully, in his sleep, and has gone to be with his Lord and Savior.
Predeceased by his parents, Nelson and Martha Tinkess, Andy leaves behind, to mourn his passing, daughters Amanda (Ken) Okrainetz, and Leah Tinkess; grandsons Jacob, Matthew and Alex; his best friend and companion, his dog Guiness; mother of his children Brenda Takacs; sister Laura (Bob) Young; two nieces Sonya (Gord) Sprugt, and Erika (Jason) Leaman and their children; his cousin and best friend Joyce (Ken) Fournier, and their children Scott (Jennifer) Fournier, Curtis (Faron) Fournier and Danielle Fournier along with their children; so many other family members and friends; as well as his second family at First Baptist Church; his crew of friends down at the Harbour Quay; the ladies from LifeLabs and waitresses at Solda's Restaurant who altogether brightened our dad's life.
Andy was a quiet man and a loyal friend. His family, his dog, and his friends were his world. He was attracted to people, which is why he could always be found down at the Harbour Quay, striking up conversations with friends and strangers alike, making new friends all the time.
His love for music began at an early age; and with over 2000 records, Andy would play everything from disco, soul and jazz, to country. He, Brenda, and their friends were always first in line on a Saturday night, waiting to get into Jax Disco where they would dance the night away. He also enjoyed a good movie and had a strong interest for ancient Egypt.
Thank you to Dr. Wilson, Dr. Martin, and Dr. Marc Puts for the genuine care over the years.
Goodbye to our dad and papa.
May you always feel our love for you...until we meet again.
