October 13, 1957 – August 4, 2016 It is with great sadness that the family of Bradley Piatka announces his passing on August 4, 2016 in Port Alberni, BC, with his family by his side. Brad was born to his proud parents on October 13, 1957; the day of the tough cookie as he often liked to remind people. At a young age Brad took an interest to art right away, drawing on any surface he could from foggy car windows to any spare paper he could find. Brad left high school with only months away from graduation to work as a logger for MacMillan Bloedel and later Westman Mines. In 1982 when his first daughter was born Brad decided to quit the logging industry and concentrate solely on his art and family. For the last 30 years of his life Brad proudly pursued his passion as an artist and painted his hometown of Port Alberni with many amazing original murals. Bradley is predeceased by his sister Brenda Piatka, his mother Shirley Sabiston and his father Oscar Piatka. He is survived by his daughters, Denay Piatka, Desaray Piatka and son in law Brian Granger; his sister Aleata Carpenter, his niece and nephew Trena Carpenter, Kevin Carpenter, Jacob Albaya; his grandsons Bryden Granger and Zarrian Hurley, as well as many cousins, family and dear friends. A celebration of life service will be held at the Barclay Hotel on Monday August 15 from 1-3pm in the ballroom. Stories and condolences can be sent to the family at www.yatesfuneral.ca
