It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Brenda Dolores Hawkins (nee Bowker0. Born May 31 1970 in Port Alberni BC.
Brenda passed away peacefully with family and her best friend Alene Norris by her side.
Brenda is survived and will be dearly missed by her parents Bob and Dolores Bowker, her husband Murray Hawkins, daughters Melissa and Nicole, siblings Tracy (Rod), JoAnne (Keith) and Jim (Ali), Mother and Father in law Jim and Donna Hawkins, Brothers in law Gord (Gayle),Dan (Dorthy) and Steve, numerous nieces , nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Brenda was raised and spent most of her life in Bamfield BC where she met and married the love of her life Murray and together they had 2 beautiful daughters Melissa and Nicole. She spent a few years in Port Alberni BC and finally settled in Powell River BC.
Brenda had a passion for cooking and baking. She became a Red Seal Chef and worked in the food industry for 30+ years.
She often baked the cakes for AA. She created many family favourites including the butter tarts she made for her fathers birthday every year and her peanut butter cookies which her nieces and nephews say were the best ever. Brenda also loved camping, fishing, animals, dancing and playing card games.
Brenda's home was always open to her children's friends as well as her own. She was fondly known and loved as "mom" by many. Brenda was a very loving, kind and positive person. She was very proud of her children.She will forever be remembered and treasured for her beautiful heart, great big smile and huge dimples. That smile would light up a room whenever she walked in.
There will be a celebration of life and her ashes will be spread at the mouth of Bamfield Harbour once the pandemic is over. Messages, condolences, memories and photos can be shared with the family on her Facebook page " Remembering Brenda Hawkins"
