Brent Allan Fedirchuk

March 14, 1972 - April 6, 2022
It is with incredible heartbreak and sadness, that we share the passing of Brent Fedirchuk, after a helicopter accident outside Sayward on April 6, 2022. He had just turned 50.
Brent was born and raised in Port Alberni. He loved sports, and growing up he played softball and soccer. He was on the track and field team and excelled at long jump. He started going out with Julie Flint in Grade 12, and they graduated together in 1990. Brent took his heavy duty mechanic course and did some commercial fishing. He was working at the Somass Mill when he was accepted into flight school in 1997. He first worked as a co-pilot for Transwest Helicopters and then a pilot at Prism Helicopters, flying throughout B.C. and Alaska. He saw some amazing scenery and learned how to long line.
They got married in 2003 and had a son, Jace in 2006. Brent went to work at Kestrel Helicopters in 2007, where he developed his skills as a shake block pilot. He had many adventures in his career and went to incredible places and met a lot of people. He loved flying and was an amazing pilot.
Brent was a huge music fan and loved going to concerts with family and friends. He was a great cook, and would gladly tell you the tips and tricks for becoming a grill master. He watched many documentaries and could pull out random facts about just about anything. He enjoyed all things summer, and made the most of any time off to be camping at the lake, riding his motorbike or quad, boating, and he was especially looking forward to cruising in his new car. He liked to visit his friends at work and have afternoon naps. Brent was a proud dad, and he had his own perch for watching hockey and lacrosse games. He loved going on family holidays and was already looking forward to the next one. He was the person who spoiled us, the humour in our lives, and the strength that surrounded and protected us. We are devastated that he was taken from us far too soon.
Brent is survived by his wife, Julie, of 18 years (together 32) and 16 year old son, Jace, his brother Bryan (Susanne), in-laws George and Lynne Flint, brothers-in-law: Michael Flint, Greg Flint (Amy), Kyle Flint and James Flint (Katie), sisters-in-law: Lori Beecroft (Dave), Kim Flint (Scott), Amy Flint (Mike), Carly Chalmers (Sam) and Corrie Flint, nieces and nephews: Matt, Cole, Tyrell, Kayden, Shayna, Tasha, Alexa, Anna, Gwen, Adam, Cian, Esme, Harlow, Lou, Georgia, Clara, Maddie, Marcus, Esma, Tyrael and Rosie. He is predeceased by his parents, Verne and Sharon.
The family would like to thank the community for their outpouring of support during this difficult time.
A celebration of life will be held for Brent on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. It will be at the Alberni Athletic Hall, 3727 Roger St, Port Alberni. We will have a memory book to place any words or photos that you would like to share with the family.
