May 17, 1944 - January 21, 2020
It is with profound sadness that the family of Carol Konkin announce her passing on January 21, 2020 at the age of 75 after complications following heart surgery.
Carol will be lovingly remembered by her husband Walter of 51 years, daughters Leanne (Randy) and Lisa (Nick). She will be forever remembered by her Grandchildren Brendon, Parker, Austin and Anya. Carol will be fondly remembered by her sister Connie Mozsar, brother Alan (Anne) Nunn, and sisters-in-law Lydia (Peter) Cherkas & Marcia (Joe) Fischer and all of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.
Carol was born Hazel Carol Anne Nunn on May 17, 1944 in Campbell River to Dorothy (Mackenzie) & George Nunn. Upon graduating from high school (CARIHI) she enrolled at the St Anne's Academy business school in Nanaimo. She found employment at the Elk Falls Mill in Campbell River where several years later she met and married Walter in 1968. Two years later, the couple moved to Saskatoon, then Victoria, and later Duncan where Leanne was born. In 1979 they moved to Port Alberni where Lisa was born a year later. For a number of years, Carol did noon hour supervision at schools in Port Alberni. She enjoyed tending to her family, spending time at Sproat Lake, tracing genealogical records for herself and others, baking, quilting, knitting, Dragon Boating, and especially doing things for others. She provided daycare in the neighbourhood and was a supportive mom figure to many.
A Celebration of Life is to be held Saturday, February 1 at 1 pm at the Cherry Creek Golf Course in Port Alberni. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol's name to the First Open Heart Society of British Columbia, Victoria, BC.
