Cecile Cyr passed away in Port Alberni on Friday, June 15, 2018 at the age of 98 years. Predeceased by husband Robert Cyr as well as 5 siblings.
Cecile is survived by children Paulette (Brent), Herbie (Val), Daniel (Georgina) and Lyn; grandchildren Catherine, Penny, Christopher, Andrea, Kristina, Steven, Daniel Jr, Derek and Kristy; 12 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in the prairies, Cecile lived in Saskatchewan, Toronto and Vancouver before following Robert to Port Alberni for work. One of the jobs Cecile had was as a quality control inspector at the Browning Munitions Factory in Toronto, testing rifles. She was always very proud of being part of the War effort and being in service to her country. Cecile moved to Port Alberni in the early 1950's and was a hardworking, devoted mother to her children, a good homemaker and a kind woman who made a welcoming home for any and all who came through her door.
Cecile was a member of the French club and an avid card player and loved playing cards with her family. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 4731 Burke Road with Father Harrison Ayre officiating.
