In Loving Memory ~
Clarence Nash "Red" passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022 in Port Alberni at the age of 99 years.
Predeceased by wife, Dru; Clarence, leaves to mourn his passing, sister Connie, many nieces, nephews and extended family residing throughout Australia and North America.
Red was born and grew up in the Okanagan. In the early 1940's he joined the Air Force and served until 1945 when World War II ended.
Once Red left the military he went to UBC to obtain his teaching degree and came to the Alberni Valley for work. He started teaching English, Social Studies and Music. Music was a passion he inherited from his family. As a teacher he was highly involved in all of the school's extracurricular musical and band productions.
He met Dru at one of the many dances held in the Valley at the time and the two married and made their home there. He was also an accomplished cook and he and Dru held dinner parties for many years.
Even after retirement, Red was always busy. His hobby was genealogy and he spent many hours researching various topics as well as gathering information on his own family tree. Red was also gathering information to publish a book on the history of cooking.
No public service will be held and cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Red and Dru are now together and will spend eternity admiring the beauty of their favourite place - Sproat Lake.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alberni Valley Hospice Society/Ty Watson Foundation, 2579 - 10th Ave, Port Alberni, BC., V9Y 2P5
