Clayton passed away peacefully in Port Alberni after some time as a resident at Fir Park Village Senior Home, at the age of 91.

Clayton is predeceased by his parents, Lenard & Leanna (Leone) Sawyer and son Darrell.

He is survived by his loving wife Billie; daughter Gerry (Don) with three granddaughters Tammy (deceased), Joyce and Wendy (Dano), and four great grandchildren; son Ray; son Gary (Helen), with three granddaughters Emily, Stephanie and Hilory; son Clay, with grandchildren Keegan and Mattea. Also survived by Timothy, who is like a son to us. sister Alda of Squamish, B.C., and her three daughters - Jo-anne (Robert), four daughters; Marla (Shane), three daughters; Tracey (Jim), 1 daughter and 1 son. As well as many nieces and nephews.

Clayton was born in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba on October 1, 1927. He came to Port Alberni, the first time, winter of 1946-47 and worked for the Highways Department, but returned every year to help his parents with their farm. Finally in 1950, Clayton decided to stay in Port Alberni, permanently, and worked for Alberni Plywoods for a time then decided he didn't like the boredom, so went to work self employed - many years logging until he finally purchased a sawmill and set it up at the back and below at Frank Ball & Son Glass where he cut ties for the CPR railroad for a few years.

Finally in the 60's, Clayton decided to try his hand at carpentry, where he did very well and stayed at that line of work until he retired. In 1967, Clayton and Billie were married and they lived happily together in Port Alberni for almost 52 years.

After his retirement, Clayton opened a second hand store on the corner of Beaver Ck & Compton and went Mon-Sat from 1 to 5pm. He loved the store and loved to see all of his family, friends and customers that would visit him there and he would always greet them with a big smile.

Besides his loving family, Clayton had another family he loved very much, his family at the Kingdom Hall, not only in Port Alberni, but in every city or country he travelled to.

Clayton was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on July 18, 1975 in Victoria. He is now waiting for the new system and living forever on a Paradise Earth.

Billie and family would like to thank all for their love, comfort and support at this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 2:30 pm, at the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 5055 Maebelle Rd, Port Alberni, BC.
