July 21, 2024

In loving memory ~

It is with much sadness that we share the news of our beloved husband and father, Clifford Chilton's passing on July 21st, 2024 due to a head injury he recently suffered.

Cliff was born in 1941, in Nanaimo BC, but he resided in Port Alberni from the time he was six months old. He is predeceased by his parents, Lillian and George Chilton and his brother, Leslie Chilton. He is survived by his wife, Betty Chilton, daughter Celeste (Remi) Audette his grandson Marc (Katey) Audette, great grandson Neil Audette, grandson Paul Audette, son Dan (Beryl) Chilton, step granddaughters, Whitney Garside, Haley Ketch and step grandchild Darwin Ketch and his dog Emmitt.

Through his work as a saw filer at Somass Division, Cliff became involved with the IWA union and helped many of his coworkers resolve grievances, as well he worked towards peaceful contract negotiations. He was generous and kind, a hard worker, always looking out for the "little guy" and offering a helping hand to those that needed it.

Cliff enjoyed numerous camping and boating outings with family and friends. His passion for cars and boats was evident in the number of different vehicles he owned. His greatest love of all though was his family, especially his wife Betty, as they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

There will be no service by request, instead a family celebration in his honour will be held later.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Ty Watson House would be gratefully accepted and appreciated.
